Covid Testing Sites Show Not all Zip Codes Created Equal

Racial Equity is ensuring all Americans can access the opportunity to survive and thrive in states, cities and counties across the nation. The current Covid-19 pandemic has exposed the fault lines in our land of equal opportunity. Not everyone has equal access to the social determinants of health and wealth.

We looked at data from the Texas Department of State Health Services and found the majority of Covid-19 testing locations reside in zip codes consisting of a majority of White or Hispanic residents, while the majority of confirmed cases, hospitalizations and deaths have been largely Black and Hispanic, Black Americans nationwide have been significantly over-represented as victims of Covid-19. https://txdshs.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=297f10f479d74b569322084e5215541e
