Systems Thinking

Discover how racial inequities may be produced and sustained through the systematic interaction of internal organizational/department policies, practices and external social structures (e.g. housing, schools, environment).

Course objectives and outcomes:

  • Understand how to apply systems thinking for addressing complex and recurring Racial Equity challenges
  • Identify how complex workplace problems self-perpetuate due to not anticipating unintended consequences of short-term solutions, and well-intentioned policies and practices  
  • Explore systemic strategies and root cause remedies to identify and remove barriers to sustain an environment of fairness and equal opportunity
